BNB Provincial Championship – Important Information & Code of Conduct
 
Rosters 
Should a team roster be reduced to less than 12 players, players may be replaced (up to the original team roster number) before the provincial championship tournament. New players can only replace names that were originally on the registration form. A fee may be imposed for each replacement made. 

Seeding
Teams will be placed in the appropriate category following the registration deadline. Seeding for tournaments will be finalized in March.
 
Player Eligibility
To be eligible to play in any competitive division of BNB, a player must meet the following requirements:
a) be a New Brunswick resident as of January 1st of the current basketball season (see exceptions for Grand Masters & Great-Grand Masters below)
b) meet age limitations as of January 1st
c) meet the requirements of the definition "Amateur"
d) may not have played on a USports University Team as of January 1st (Intermediate exceptions below)
 
Exceptions:
Intermediate division eligibility
(effective January 2013):
Intermediate teams may have a MAXIMUM of two players (total) who meet the following criteria:
  • may have played on a USports team after January 1st of the current playing season and has lived in NB for at least two consecutive years
  • may have played on an NBL or NCAA D1 team after January 1st and attended a New Brunswick high school and/or University/College
  • Teams who have 1 and/or 2 players who fit the aforementioned criteria may be subject to play in a higher division at BNB’s discretion.
 Player proof of age must be supplied at Provincial Championships. There are no exceptions for birth years at adult championships.

Grand Masters and Great Grand Masters (effective January 2020):
We have initiated a pilot-project for 2024 which allows teams with residency from PEI or NS to compete in this year's Championships. All players are subject to the same rules and policies as New Brunswick residents. Exceptions may be made for teams from other locations, but must be approved by the BNB office first.

Representative's Commitment:
We certify that we have read the above information, agree to fulfill our commitment to the participants contract and that all players on this team are the appropriate age and place of residence for this competition. I understand that failure to fulfill this commitment may result in disciplinary action, including forfeit of registration fees. 

Privacy Policy

All player and coach information is kept confidential and for the use of BNB only. No contact or personal information of players and coaches will be distributed to outside parties.

Refund Policy

In the event a team needs to withdrawal from a Provincial Championship Tournament:
- Full refunds will only be given if the team withdrawals prior to the registration deadline.
- After the registration deadline a 15% admin fee will apply.
- All refund requests (less the 15%) made within two weeks prior to the specific tournament must be approved by the BNB Board of Directors at the spring Board meeting and additional charges may apply.
- Please ensure all information is correct before submitting your registration - teams that are registered in error will be charged a 5% administration fee.

Offline Payment Instructions

Payments (cash, cheque, money order) are also accepted in person at the BNB office or via email money transfer to info@basketball.nb.ca with the password set as "Basketball" if required. All payments must include team name, age group & gender.
