This week we are announcing our 2021 Service Award recipients. We are thrilled to be recognizing five individuals and one club this week - we thank all our recipients for your contributions to the basketball community!
This year's recipient of the Coaches Award is Tyler Gideon! This award is presented to someone who has demonstrated a commitment to coaching at the community and/or provincial level with a strong focus on player development. Congratulations and thank you Tyler!
TYLER GIDEON
Tyler has been an active member of the New Brunswick Basketball community beginning in 2008. He began his career as a head coach for the North American Indigenous Games that year and has been successful in doing so for four years. Tyler also made his first appearance with BNB in 2008 where he was an apprentice coach for two years. He then worked his way up to be an assistant coach with the U16 boys and finally became a head coach in 2010 for three consecutive years. After his experience as a provincial head coach, Tyler started his high school coaching career with the Dalhousie Regional High School (DRHS) Varsity boys. In 2014 he transferred to Sugarloaf Senior High School (SSHS) where he was the head coach for four years. During Tyler's time at SSHS, he was also the Vice President of the Restigouche North Basketball Association. To say the least, Tyler is known for going above and beyond and is a major contributor to the success and growth of basketball in the Northern part of the province. Tyler is currently the President of the North Shore Fire Minor Basketball Association as well as, the head coach of the DRHS Varsity girl’s team.
